i found a company that manufactures a spread spectrum microwave link for
digital communication, does T1 bandwidth line-of-sight (about 40 mi?), no
license, no frequency coordination required. about 1 watt output, can you
believe it. designed specifically for urban areas, but also works good in
rural/remote areas too. runs about $8k per end, not including the dish.
it's called the Lynx Radio (from Western Multiplex Corp.)
does anybody know more about these, used them, use similar equipment,
etc? are there hidden costs?
what about cheaper equipment? inexpensive microwave links that do need
licensing & frequency coordination? what about cellular CSMA equipment
that is available now?
(if anybody knows any good trade publications to read that advertise
this sort of stuff, please let me know! i am having a hard time finding
out what is available, what it costs, etc.)
thanks,
adam
